WooCommerce maintenance and checkout care for stores that cannot stop selling.
A store can look fine and still be losing orders. My WooCommerce care plan updates your store with a snapshot taken first, then checks the parts that take money: the cart, the checkout, the payment gateway and the emails your customers and your staff rely on.

Websites I have built for Kentucky businesses
A broken blog post is embarrassing. A broken checkout is lost sales.
A lot of general website maintenance stops at clicking update and checking that the home page still loads. On a store, that misses everything that matters. A payment plugin update can break the card form. A shipping change can stop live rates. A mail problem can mean orders arrive and nobody at the shop is told.
Good WooCommerce maintenance is checkout care: the money path gets tested when something changes underneath it. That is how I look after the stores I run, including my own. For a site without a store, my WordPress maintenance plan covers the general care.
Everything between add to cart and the money arriving.
Updates with a snapshot first
WordPress, WooCommerce and plugin updates run with a snapshot taken first and automatic checks afterward. If an update breaks the store, it gets rolled back.
Checkout care after updates
A test order goes through cart and checkout after updates that touch them, so a broken card field is found by me instead of by a customer.
Payment gateway changes
When a processor retires a gateway or changes its rules, I move the store to the replacement, test it and make the new card fields look like they belong.
Order emails that arrive
New-order alerts, customer receipts and shipping notices checked, with site mail sent through an authenticated relay and SPF, DKIM and DMARCÂ set.
Shipping, tax and stock
Live rates, free-shipping thresholds, tax settings and stock counts checked after changes, and syncs with a register or a supplier watched.
Monitored and backed up
Stores on my server are checked from outside every 60 seconds, with problems alerting my phone. Databases are backed up offsite daily, files weekly, and the whole server nightly.
Heimerdinger Cutlery: a thousand products and live shipping rates.
Heimerdinger Cutlery has served Louisville since 1861 and sells roughly a thousand products online, with live UPS rates on every order. An update that breaks shipping is lost sales, so plugin updates are tested against the checkout before they go live.
The store is hosted on my server and improved continuously. Phase two added a cart drawer that reads the store’s real free-shipping threshold from the shipping settings, so the message on screen can never drift from the actual offer.
Shop Peerless: a regulated store that has to hold on release day.
I designed Shop Peerless and keep it selling. It runs on Kentucky Peerless’s own server, which I monitor and maintain alongside the store. When its old card processor was retired, I moved the store to Clover eCommerce, verified there was no duplicate gateway left behind and styled the new card fields so they look native to the store.
A limited bourbon release brings a wave of buyers at once. Ahead of one, updates are tested before they touch the store, caching and server capacity are checked, and someone is watching on the day.
Two more stores I look after
Lucas Play is a toy and collectibles store I rebuilt in October 2026, with all 1,374 products moved from its old store. It is hosted on my server, with the same monitoring, offsite backups and update checks as every site there.
The Island Earth is my own 3,800-product store, which I built and run. Running a store myself keeps me honest about what store owners deal with: the order emails, the payment notices and the problems that only show up at two in the morning.
How a store comes into my care.
Store review
Plugins, gateway, shipping, tax, emails and custom code, including whether orders still use the older storage that WooCommerce 8.2 replaced for new stores in 2023. You get a short written list.
Baseline
Backups confirmed, a test order run end to end, and the pages that take money noted so every later check has something to compare against.
Routine
Updates with snapshots, checks after each run, monitoring and offsite backups. Larger WooCommerce and payment updates get a test order before they go live.
Plain reporting
What changed, what was tested and anything that needs your decision, written in plain English.
When this care plan fits, and when it does not.
Hosted elsewhere is fine
Stores on another host can still have a care plan. Update testing and checkout checks work the same; backups and server tuning depend on what the host allows.
Not a fit
A store that wants changes pushed live without testing, or a new theme every month, will fight this kind of care.
Big changes are separate
New features, redesigns and integrations are quoted on their own. The care plan keeps the store healthy and does not quietly grow into a project.
WooCommerce maintenance, answered.
What does WooCommerce maintenance include?
Updates with a snapshot first, checks afterward, checkout testing after changes that touch it, payment gateway and order email checks, shipping and tax checks, monitoring and offsite backups. Each plan is written down for the store before it starts.
Do you test with real payments?
Checkout is tested with test orders that are refunded or canceled, or in the payment provider’s test mode where it has one. No real customer is ever charged by a test.
Can you switch my payment gateway?
Yes. I have moved a live store to a new processor when the old one was retired, checked that no duplicate gateway was left behind, and styled the new card fields to match the store.
What happens if an update breaks my store?
The snapshot taken before the update means it can be rolled back quickly. Then I find the conflict and fix it properly before trying the update again.
Do you look after stores you did not build?
Yes. I review the store first and tell you what needs attention before the care plan starts, including anything that should be fixed before routine updates begin.
How much does a WooCommerce care plan cost?
It depends on the store: the plugins, the payment and shipping setup, any custom code and integrations. I quote it from a written scope after one conversation.
Tell me about your store.
Send me the address and what worries you most about it. I will look at the store and tell you what a care plan would cover, and anything I would fix first.

What happens next
- 01I reply, usually the same day. Every message comes straight to me, not a ticket queue.
- 02A short call. What the site needs to do, who it is for, and what has not worked before.
- 03A written scope and flat quote. Before any work starts, with hosting and ongoing care listed separately.
