CUSTOM WORDPRESS PLUGIN DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

When WordPress can’t, we make it able to.

Custom plugins and custom functionality, built for your exact workflow. Below: the guest check-in system we built and run in production for Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. Custom WordPress development from a Louisville studio: one plugin, a WordPress website that has to do something unusual, or the whole system behind it. Want to see the code behind them, screen by screen? Meet the plugin developer.

SOFTWARE SHAPED TO YOUR BUSINESS

Built around the way you already work.

01

Workflow tools your team runs daily

Like the Peerless Guest Check-In Board: every tour and tasting grouped by time, one-tap check-in, built for a busy front desk.

02

Walk-ins, comps, and overrides

Real operations are messy. Walk-up parties, comped tours, and admin overrides are handled in the same screen, in seconds.

03

Live syncing across devices

Attendance saves instantly and every device at the counter shows the same numbers. No refresh, no double-checking.

04

Reports your accountant will love

A custom attendance report shows booked versus attended by experience and date range, with one-click CSV exports.

05

Built on what you already own

Our plugins extend WordPress and WooCommerce instead of replacing them. No new platform, no new subscriptions, no retraining.

06

Yours, permanently

Custom code we build for you belongs to you. It lives on your site and works as long as you need it to.

IN PRODUCTION EVERY TOUR DAY

The check-in system Kentucky Peerless runs every tour day.

Their tours sell out through WooCommerce Bookings, but tour day used to live on paper. We built a branded check-in board, walk-in handling, live capacity stats, an attendance report, and a bookings CSV exporter, all as custom WordPress plugins. Guest names and details in these screenshots are fictional.

The same developer also writes the custom code behind our client sites and keeps the WooCommerce stores they sell through running.

THREE PLUGINS, THREE BUSINESSES

FROM BOTTLENECK TO SHIPPED TOOL

How a custom plugin gets built here.

01

Map the workflow

We watch how the work actually happens and find where the friction lives.

02

Design the screens

Interfaces styled to your brand and readable in the middle of a rush.

03

Build and test on staging

The plugin is built, tested against real scenarios, and reviewed with your team.

04

Ship and refine

It goes live, and real use drives refinements like walk-ins, comps, and print sheets.

SIX PLUGINS, SIX REAL JOBS

Custom WordPress plugin development, proven on live sites.

The check-in board above is one of several purpose-built plugins Shaun Wilson Designs has written and runs for clients and for its own businesses. Each one extends WordPress or WooCommerce instead of replacing it, follows WordPress coding standards, and belongs to the client. A few of them:

01

HogMatch Core

A complete marketplace layer for a show-pig site: one canonical listing per animal, approved-seller workflow, masked buyer-to-breeder relay, deposit and commission model, fourteen branded emails, and a phone-to-web video pipeline. The HogMatch build.

02

Peerless Clover Sync

Pulls register quantities from the distillery’s Clover POS into WooCommerce every hour, so the website never sells a bottle the shop no longer has. Kentucky Peerless.

03

Peerless Guest Book

A remotely editable visitor sign-up page running on a supervised iPad kiosk at the distillery door, feeding the mailing list, with its own success animation and admin controls.

04

Staff Booking Override

Lets administrators and approved managers create real WooCommerce bookings for walk-ins and phone reservations without touching the public booking flow.

05

Season-aware attraction tools

For Field of Screams Kentucky: an opening-night countdown that knows whether it is pre-season, mid-season or off-season, and a purpose-built gallery lightbox for a 25-year maze archive. The 2026 redesign.

06

This site’s portfolio engine

The filterable project grid on this website is a small custom plugin: per-project metadata, curated ordering, deep-linkable filters and schema, rendered from real posts so new work appears automatically. See it run.

BEFORE WE WRITE CODE

What clients ask first.

What does a custom plugin cost?

Far less than switching platforms or paying forever for SaaS that almost fits. Scope drives price, and you get a straight quote before we start.

Will it break when WordPress updates?

Our plugins are written in-house by a Louisville WordPress developer, follow WordPress coding standards, and extend stable APIs. The Peerless tools have run through years of core and WooCommerce updates.

Can you modify an existing plugin instead?

Often, yes. Sometimes a small companion plugin, like our Bookings Always Show Slots tweak, is all a workflow needs.

What kinds of tools can you build?

Check-in boards, booking tools, exporters, dashboards, integrations, automations. If your team does it by hand next to a WordPress site, it can probably be a tool.

WHAT CUSTOM ACTUALLY MEANS

When a plugin beats another plugin

Most problems are already solved by something off the shelf, and saying so saves you money. Custom work earns its keep in a narrower set of cases.

Your process is the product

When the way you do something is a competitive advantage, bending a generic plugin to fit it usually breaks both.

Nothing off the shelf fits

Sometimes the closest plugin does 60 percent and the remaining 40 is exactly the part that matters.

You are stacking plugins to cope

Four plugins and a pile of glue code to achieve one workflow is slower and more fragile than one thing built for it.

It has to talk to something

Wiring a site into a CRM, a scheduler, or an internal system is normally custom work by definition.

You own what is built

Custom code written here belongs to you. It lives on your site and keeps working whoever maintains it next.

It gets documented

Handed over with notes on how it works, so you are not dependent on one person remembering.
