PROJECT SPOTLIGHT / PLUMBING WEBSITE

A website that puts Allied Plumbing's business in focus.

Allied Plumbing needed an online home that made its services easy to understand and its next step easy to find. I built a website around the company's brand, its service work and its Kentucky coverage, with a clear path from browsing to getting in touch.

LOCATION

Bardstown, Kentucky, serving Elizabethtown and Hardin County

FOCUS

Service pages, local coverage, a request form that follows the problem

DELIVERY

WordPress on Kadence, live September 15, 2026

BUILT AROUND HOW CUSTOMERS LOOK FOR HELP

Start with the problem, not the service name.

A visitor may arrive with a leaking faucet, a water heater question or a drain that keeps backing up. Dedicated service pages give each of those questions a useful destination: drain cleaning, water heaters and tankless, sewer and septic, plumbing repairs, new construction, commercial plumbing, backflow testing and hydro jetting.

A service hub helps the visitor who is still deciding where to start, and a dedicated Elizabethtown page gives the company’s growth area its own place in the site instead of a city name swapped into a template.

Allied is an owner-run company based in Bardstown, and the site says so plainly. No call center, no booking widget. A phone number that is always one tap away, and a request form for people who would rather write it down.

THE WORK, AS BUILT

Exact screens, not mockups.

These are direct browser captures of the live site at 1440 and 390 pixels. Nothing redrawn, nothing staged.

WHAT I BUILT

The work, piece by piece.

Eight service pages

One page per service, each with a symptom checklist, a walkthrough of the visit, the things that move the price, a local note and questions people actually ask.

Local coverage

A substantive Elizabethtown page, a service-areas page with the real map, and Bardstown named as home on every page that matters.

A request form that adapts

Pick the service and the relevant follow-up questions appear, with room for photos and the town or ZIP. Sending it asks for a call back; it does not silently book a visit.

Careers, with its own application

A separate conditional application for plumbers, apprentices and helpers, delivered to the owner as a PDF.

Gallery and reviews

Real job-site photographs with captions that describe what is visible, and real Google reviews quoted on the page with a link to the profile.

Search and analytics setup

Search Console, the sitemap and IndexNow at launch, and events for phone clicks and form submissions so activity can be evaluated after launch.

DESKTOP, DETAIL, PHONE

THE RESULT

Ready for the next stage.

The launch included search setup and analytics for phone clicks and form submissions. Those tools create a way to evaluate activity after launch. Traffic growth, search rankings and new leads are not yet measured outcomes of this project, and this page will not pretend otherwise.

What the company has today is a website that explains what it does, shows where it works, and makes the next step obvious on a desk or a phone.

IN ONE LINE

A plumbing customer starts with a problem, not a service name. The site meets them there.

Bardstown is home. Elizabethtown is on the route. Every page says which one it is talking about.

WHAT WAS DONE, IN DETAIL

Six decisions that shaped the site.

ONE / THE SERVICE HUB

Eight services, eight destinations, one place to start.

Drain cleaning, water heaters, repairs and commercial work do not answer the same questions, so each one got its own page with its own structure. The hub exists for the visitor who cannot name the service yet: pick the one that sounds like your house.

Hydro jetting was added as the eighth page during the build once it was clear the work was a distinct request, not a footnote on drain cleaning.

TWO / THE REQUEST FORM

A request form that follows the problem.

The form starts with the service the customer needs. Relevant questions then appear for that request: which drain, how old the heater is, city sewer or septic, whether there is an outdoor cleanout. There is room for photos and the town or ZIP. I wrote up the conditional logic behind the request form, rule by rule.

The website supports a conversation with Allied rather than asking customers to choose an appointment before anyone understands the scope. Sending the form requests a call back, and the confirmation page says so.

THREE / ELIZABETHTOWN

Elizabethtown, given its own place.

Elizabethtown and Hardin County are where the company is growing, so the page is written for that town: the newer subdivisions along the corridors, the older neighborhoods, the towns around it, and the hard water across the county.

It links to every service page and carries the same request form. It is one page, not eight services multiplied by ten towns.

FOUR / REAL PHOTOGRAPHS

Real photographs, accurate context.

The gallery holds photographs supplied from job sites and the company’s fleet. Many were taken while evaluating a job, so the captions describe what is visible instead of presenting every picture as a finished installation.

Bardstown itself is in the site too: the courthouse square, the water tower and the North Third Street corridor, photographed from the air by Shaun Wilson Designs.

FIVE / IDENTITY

The company’s identity, carried through.

Allied’s blue and slate identity, fleet photography and local imagery tie the pages together. Service pages, navigation, calls to action and phone layouts share one design so the site feels like one business from start to finish.

Motion is subtle, respects reduced-motion settings, and never hides content from someone who scrolls fast.

SIX / CAREERS

A careers page with its own application.

Hiring is part of running a plumbing company, so the careers page got a real application rather than a mailto link: a conditional form for plumbers, apprentices and helpers, delivered to the owner as a PDF, kept separate from customer requests so recruiting traffic never inflates the lead count.

ON A 390-PIXEL PHONE

The phone is where most of these calls start.

Every page was checked at 390 pixels: one H1, no sideways scroll, readable buttons, a sticky call bar that never covers the form.

SERVICES USED ON THIS PROJECT

What this project used.

Plumbing website design

The service page this project became the example for: what a plumbing website has to do, and how I build it. For more across the trades, see other contractor websites worth studying.

Better request forms for service websites

A practical guide to what a service business should ask before the first call, with examples from this form.

Small business website design

The same approach for any owner-run company that needs a website that explains the work and rings the phone.

BARDSTOWN AND ELIZABETHTOWN, KENTUCKY

Built in Louisville, for bourbon country.

Shaun Wilson Designs is a Louisville web design company that builds for businesses across Kentucky. Allied Plumbing joins the work already done for Bardstown and the coverage now offered in Elizabethtown, an hour down the road either way.

YOUR PROJECT NEXT

One conversation, one builder, a clear next step. The person you brief is the person who does the work.
