LAW FIRM AND ATTORNEY WEBSITE DESIGN

Law firm website design that makes the phone ring.

A law firm website has one job: make a stranger in a stressful moment comfortable enough to call. I design and build WordPress websites for solo attorneys and small firms, in Louisville, across Kentucky and anywhere a practice needs one. Credible in five seconds, fast on a phone, structured for the searches clients actually make, and looked after by the person who built it.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Six signs a law practice has outgrown its website.

01

It does not build trust in five seconds

A prospective client decides in seconds whether to call. A dated or cluttered site loses that decision before your credentials load.

02

Practice areas are buried

If a visitor cannot tell within one scroll what you handle and how to start, they call the next firm on the list.

03

It breaks on phones

Most legal searches happen on a phone, often in a parking lot or a hallway. The site has to work there first.

04

Nobody finds you on Google

A practice that does not rank for what it handles, where it practises, is invisible to the clients it wants.

05

It looks like every other firm

Directory templates make every attorney look like the same attorney. Credibility is the product, and the site has to carry it.

06

You want one person to call

Not a marketing agency’s ticket queue. The person who designed it, built it and hosts it.

CREDIBILITY IS THE PRODUCT

Websites that make the phone ring.

For a law practice the website has one job: make a stranger comfortable enough to call. Everything in the build, from typography to load speed to where the phone number sits, serves that moment of trust. And it is sized to the practice: a solo attorney and a multi-attorney firm need different sites and should pay different prices.

LAW FIRM WORK, UP CLOSE

Two Kentucky law practices, and what their websites do now.

Both sites below are live today. A Louisville attorney who needed credibility in the first five seconds, and a solo practice that needed a clean, affordable site that simply gets the job done.

JUSTIN GOOCH LAW / LOUISVILLE ATTORNEY

A law practice that looks as sharp as its counsel.

Justin Gooch Law needed a website that builds trust in the first five seconds. Clean, credible and mobile-first, with clear practice areas, a fast and hardened WordPress build, structured metadata aimed at the searches Louisville clients actually make, and a path to a consultation on every page. The firm updates its own content without calling a developer.

TODD LEWIS LAW / SOLO PRACTICE

A solo practice site, built lean and built right.

Not every practice needs a flagship build. Todd Lewis Law needed a clean, affordable, professional site: who, what, where and how to call, done well, with every page leading to the phone number and the contact form.

In September 2026 it moved onto my dedicated server behind Cloudflare, roughly five times faster than before, with all 41 pages verified and off-site backups in place.

From a Google review

“We couldn’t be happier with the website Shaun Wilson Designs created for our law firm. … The site is not only visually stunning but also highly functional, user-friendly, and optimized for SEO - helping us attract more clients. The attention to detail, responsiveness, and seamless integration of key features (including contact forms, case result showcases, and legal resources) have truly elevated our online presence. â€¦”

WHAT A LAW FIRM WEBSITE INCLUDES

Everything a practice needs to be chosen, and nothing it has to fight.

Who it is for

Solo attorneys and small firms

Practices where the attorney is the brand: personal injury, criminal defense, family law, estate planning, business law. If a prospective client is choosing between you and two other names, this is built for you.

What you get

The pages a practice needs

Home, practice areas with their own pages, attorney profiles, reviews and results where your rules allow, a contact and intake path that works on a phone, and a news section you can keep up yourself.

What you supply

Your words and your credentials

Bios, headshots, practice descriptions, bar admissions and the disclaimers your jurisdiction requires. I shape it and write around it; you sign off on every word before it is public.

Timeline

Weeks, with a date up front

Scope sets the schedule and you get a date before work starts, with a private staging link the whole way through. Nothing is published until you approve it.

Launch

Found from day one

Search setup, legal-practice schema, your Google Business Profile linked, analytics with call and form tracking, and redirects from every old address if the firm had a site before.

Ownership

Yours, hosted and cared for

You own the domain, the site and the content. I host it on my own dedicated server behind Cloudflare and keep it updated, backed up and watched.

KENTUCKY LAW FIRM WEBSITES

Kentucky law firm websites, built in Louisville.

Both practices on this page are Louisville firms, and I work from Louisville, so a meeting at your office is a short drive rather than a video call. Practices across the rest of Kentucky get the same builder and the same process.

Kentucky clients search by problem and by place: a personal injury lawyer in Louisville, a divorce attorney in Lexington, a will in Elizabethtown. So a Kentucky firm’s site gives each practice area you want more of its own page in plain English, and says where you take cases, instead of one page that tries to rank for everything. Justin Gooch Law, a Louisville practice handling personal injury, criminal defense and wills and estates, is built around its practice areas that way.

Kentucky attorney advertising rules are set by the Kentucky Supreme Court. You confirm what yours require, and I build to them, with nothing published until you sign off.

LAW FIRM SEO

Law firm SEO, without the promises.

Every law firm site I build launches with the search foundation in place: a page for each practice area, titles and descriptions written for the searches clients make, legal-practice schema, fast pages on my own server, your Google Business Profile linked, Search Console and analytics with call and form tracking, and redirects from every old address.

After launch, SEO for a practice is the same work I do for any Louisville business: a plain-English audit, fixes to speed and structure, new pages and posts aimed at the cases you want more of, and measurement in Search Console and rank tracking, so you can see what moved and what did not.

What I will not do is promise page one. Legal searches are some of the most competitive in local search, rankings follow reviews and real links from other sites, and anyone who guarantees them is guessing. The Louisville SEO services page shows how that work runs.

THE POINT OF ALL OF IT

Built for the client on the phone.

Fast, clear, credible, and pointed at the call. Hosted on my own dedicated server and looked after by the person who built it, so the site is never the thing you worry about.

BUILT AND RUNNING

What the work looks like on a desk, in a hand and on a phone.

Current desktop, detail and phone views of live law practice sites. Nothing redrawn, nothing staged. Both still have me handling hosting and updates.

HOW A NEW SITE COMES TOGETHER

Four steps from first call to first lead.

01

Listen

A real conversation about the practice: what you handle, who you want to reach, and what has not worked before.

02

Design

A clean, credible look built around the client’s decision to call, reviewed with you before anything is built.

03

Build

Fast, hardened WordPress on my own server, with practice areas, attorney profiles and contact paths structured for search.

04

Launch & Care

Search setup, analytics and a launch checklist, then hosting and updates from the person who built it.

LAW FIRM WEBSITE QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

What attorneys ask before they hire a web designer.

How much does a law firm website cost?

Scoped flat after a conversation about the practice, so you have a clear number before any work starts. A solo practice site and a multi-attorney firm site are priced very differently, and I will tell you which one you actually need. The law firm website cost factors explain what moves the number.

What about attorney advertising rules?

You know your bar’s rules; I build to them. Disclaimers where you need them, nothing published without your sign-off, and content you can change yourself the day a rule does.

How long does a law firm website take?

Weeks, not months. Scope sets the schedule, you get a date up front, and a private staging link the whole way through.

Will clients find it on Google? What about law firm SEO?

It is built to be found: clean structure, fast pages, proper titles and schema for a legal practice, and search setup at launch. Ranking for competitive legal terms takes time and links, and I am honest about that rather than promising page one.

Can I update it myself?

Yes. It is built in the WordPress editor with native blocks, not a page builder that locks you in, and you get a walkthrough at handover.

Who hosts it, and who do I call?

I host it on my own dedicated server behind Cloudflare, and you call the person who built it. Hosting, updates and support are one relationship, not three.

How can I build a website for my law firm?

Three routes. A website builder like Wix or Squarespace is quick and cheap to start, and most firms outgrow it the first time they need a practice-area page to rank or a form to feed their intake. A legal directory’s template site rents you a design every other attorney in the directory also has. A custom WordPress site, which is what I build, is the one you own: structured for the searches clients make, written around your practice and able to grow with it. If you are already on a builder, I can move it. Torn between the two? Read WordPress vs Squarespace.

What should a law firm website include?

The practice areas you want more of, each on its own page in plain English. Who the attorney is, with a real photograph. Proof, in the form of reviews and results your rules allow you to show. A phone number and a short contact path that work on a phone in a parking lot. The disclaimers your bar requires. Fast pages, because a slow site reads as a careless firm. For examples, see the best law firm websites and what each does right.

Do you work with attorneys outside Kentucky?

Yes. The two practices on this page are in Kentucky because that is where I am, but the work happens over the phone and screen share, and I build for firms across the United States. Advertising rules differ by state; you confirm what yours require, and I build to them.
