PROJECT SPOTLIGHT / EVENT VENUE

A venue website that sells the feeling of the day.

Old Mill Venue hosts weddings and events. Their website has one job: make couples fall in love with the space before they ever visit, then get the tour booked.

WHAT WE BUILT

The work, piece by piece

Emotion-first imagery

The venue photographed and presented the way couples imagine their day.

Tour-focused funnels

Every page moves visitors toward scheduling a visit.

Event details, organized

Capacities, packages, and logistics answered before the first phone call.

Mobile planning-friendly

Couples plan on phones, on couches, at midnight. The site works there.

Aerial perspective

Drone imagery shows the grounds and setting no ground camera can.

Easy seasonal updates

Galleries and dates the venue team can refresh themselves.

VENUES SELL EMOTION

Show the day, not just the building

A venue site is wedding marketing, not real estate listing. This build leads with atmosphere and answers the practical questions second, exactly the order couples decide in.

WHAT WAS DONE, IN DETAIL

Onboarded, de-spammed, and pointed at Louisville.

Old Mill Venue came to Shaun Wilson Designs with a working site and a real problem: enquiry notifications were landing in spam, and the site was invisible to the couples in Louisville who make up most of its bookings. The first pass fixed the plumbing, then rebuilt how the venue presents itself to search.

That meant moving DNS to Cloudflare, publishing SPF, DKIM and DMARC so the venue’s email authenticates, compressing the entire photo library, rewriting the homepage and key pages around Louisville, adding venue schema, and restyling the enquiry form so it looks like the venue and tells the team where each lead came from.

THE SPECIFICS

Systems, fixes and the numbers behind them.

Email that arrives

SPF, DKIM and DMARC published in Cloudflare and verified byte-exact; the notifications-to-spam problem is closed.

Louisville-first search

Homepage retitled and re-described for the Louisville market, with descriptions written for availability, pricing and directions, and LocalBusiness and EventVenue schema added.

Lighter photography

All 96 library images optimised through Imagify, the library cut from 274 MB to 189 MB with no visible loss.

A form that sells the tour

The enquiry form rebuilt two-column in the venue’s own palette with a “Check Your Date” call to action and a “How did you hear about us?” field.

Anti-spam and local SEO plugins

Purpose-built must-use plugins for spam filtering, local search markup and form styling, so the fixes survive theme and plugin updates.

Aerial perspective

Drone imagery of the grounds and setting, shot by Shaun, that no ground camera can give a couple.

PROJECT DETAILS

The nuts and bolts

Do you shoot the venue photos?

Yes, ground and aerial. The setting is half the sell, and drones show it best.

Can couples book tours online?

The site funnels every visit toward tour scheduling and inquiry.

What about seasonal galleries?

Built in. Spring, fall, and holiday looks each get their moment.

Do you work with other venues?

Yes: venues, attractions, and hospitality are a natural fit for our photo-plus-web approach.

YOUR VENUE, IRRESISTIBLE

Make them book the tour.

Tell us about your venue and we will build the site that fills the calendar.
