GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE

Google Business Profile management that keeps your profile accurate and current.

For a local search, your Business Profile is often the first thing a customer sees, before your website. I set it up to Google’s rules, keep the details right, reply to reviews and post updates, and make sure it tells the same story as your site.

WHY IT MATTERS

For a local search, the profile is the front door.

When someone nearby searches for what you do, Google often shows a map and a short list of businesses before any website. That list comes from Business Profiles. Google says local results depend mainly on relevance to the search, distance from the person searching, and how well known the business is, which it judges partly from links to your business and your reviews.

Nobody can change your distance, and Google says there is no way to pay for a better local ranking. What you can control is how complete, accurate and active your profile is, and how well it matches your website. Keeping that right month after month is the work of Google Business Profile management. If you would rather do the first round of optimization yourself, the local SEO checklist walks through it.

WHAT I DO

The work behind a profile that earns its place.

Every item here follows Google’s own guidelines for Business Profiles. Shortcuts that break them are not on the list.

Setup

Categories and services

The primary category is chosen carefully, with only as many extra categories as it takes to describe the core business, as Google asks. Services are listed in the words customers actually search.

Accuracy

Name, hours and service area

Your real-world business name with nothing added, regular and holiday hours, and a service area instead of a home address if you travel to customers, as Google’s service-area rules ask. Google can suspend profiles that get these wrong.

Reviews

Reviews asked for and answered

A direct review link and QR code so customers can leave a review in a couple of taps, and calm, prompt replies in your voice. Never paid for and never filtered, because Google’s review policy forbids both.

Photos

Photos of the real place

Your storefront, team, vehicles and finished work, shot properly. I am a working photographer and an FAA Part 107 licensed drone pilot, so the photos can come from me.

Updates

Posts, offers and events

Short updates about seasonal hours, new services, events and offers, so the profile shows recent activity and answers common questions before anyone has to call.

Consistency

Profile and website in step

The same name, address, phone and services on your website, with LocalBusiness schema and a link to the right page. When the two disagree, customers and search engines both hesitate.

MY OWN PROFILE FIRST

In the Louisville map pack, rated 5.0 across 23 reviews.

The Business Profile for Shaun Wilson Designs appears in the Louisville map pack and carries a 5.0 rating on Google across 23 reviews. The work on this page is the work I do on my own profile: complete details, reviews asked for the right way, and a website that tells the same story.

I will not show you client ranking claims I cannot back up. What I can show is the method, used on my own business first, and a plain report of what I changed on yours.

HOW IT RUNS

From a quick audit to a profile that stays right.

01

Audit

I check the profile against Google’s guidelines and against your website: name, categories, hours, services, photos, reviews and links.

02

Fix

Errors corrected, categories and services tightened, photos added, and a review link and QR code set up for your staff to hand out.

03

Keep it current

Holiday hours, regular updates, fresh photos and a reply to every new review, so the profile never looks abandoned.

04

Report

A short, plain note of what changed and what customers did on the profile, using Google’s own performance figures.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

What profile management can and cannot do.

No ranking promises

Nobody can promise a spot in the map pack. Google says it cannot be bought, and distance from the searcher is out of everyone’s hands.

No fake or filtered reviews

Google’s policies forbid paying for reviews, offering discounts for them and asking only happy customers. Breaking that puts the whole profile at risk.

No keyword-stuffed names

Google’s guidelines do not allow service or location words added to a business name, and Google says it can lead to suspension. It is a common shortcut and a bad trade.

AI answers questions in Maps

Google shut down its Business Profile questions and answers API in November 2025, and Ask Maps now answers questions about places with Gemini. Complete, accurate details matter more than ever.

You stay the owner

The profile stays in your Google account with you as owner. I work as a manager, and only owners can add or remove users, so you can remove me at any time.

The website still matters

A strong profile can send people to a weak website. If yours is slow or unclear, I will say so, because that is often where the call is won or lost.

BUSINESS PROFILE QUESTIONS

Google Business Profile management, answered.

01

What does Google Business Profile management include?

Keeping your Business Profile complete, accurate and active within Google’s guidelines: the right categories, your real name and hours, services, photos, regular updates, and reviews that are asked for fairly and answered. It also means keeping the profile and your website in agreement as things change.

02

How long until my profile shows up higher on Google Maps?

There is no honest fixed answer. Fixing errors and filling gaps is quick work, while reviews and how well known you are build over months. Distance from the searcher always plays a part, so results differ from street to street.

03

Can you remove a bad review?

Only Google can remove a review, and only when it breaks Google’s policies. A review is not removed for being negative. I can report reviews that break the rules and help you write a calm public reply to the rest.

04

Do I need a storefront to have a Business Profile?

No. Businesses that travel to customers, such as plumbers and contractors, can show a service area. Google’s guidelines ask service-area businesses to hide their address, which also keeps a home address private.

05

Will you need my Google password?

No. You add me as a manager from your own Google account. Managers can edit the profile and reply to reviews, but only owners can add or remove users, so the profile stays yours.

06

How much does Google Business Profile management cost?

It depends on how much needs fixing at the start and how often things change in your business. I quote it from a short written scope after one conversation, so the number matches the work.

READY WHEN YOU ARE

Let me look at your profile.

Send me your business name and town. I will look at your Business Profile next to your website and tell you the first three things I would fix, whether or not you hire me.

Connect with me

Tell me about your business.

What happens next

  1. 01
I reply, usually the same day. Every message comes straight to me, not a ticket queue.
  2. 02
A short call. What the site needs to do, who it is for, and what has not worked before.
  3. 03
A written scope and flat quote. Before any work starts, with hosting and ongoing care listed separately.
