ARTIST COLLABORATION
Life-Size Head Prototype & 14-Inch Scale Model
Two high-resolution physical prototypes created as working studio tools for the development of a life-and-a-half-scale, 9-foot statue.

PHYSICAL REFERENCE FOR A MONUMENTAL WORK
Study the form at life size before building at nine feet.
A life-size head was printed so the sculptor could hold and study the form in the real world. The high-resolution print preserved subtle surface detail and created a reliable reference for proportion, expression, and texture.
The life-size prototype became a working tool in the studio as the artist prepared for a life-and-a-half-scale, 9-foot statue.

A SECOND VIEW OF THE SAME IDEA
Life size for close study. Fourteen inches for the full gesture.
A 14-inch life-and-a-half-scale version was also produced. The model was split into multiple parts, printed at very high quality, and assembled after printing to preserve detail and improve production reliability.
Together, the two versions let the sculptor study the head at life size and review the larger design as a complete object. Physical models communicate volume, gesture, and surface character in ways a screen cannot.

SUPPORTING THE NINE-FOOT SCULPTURE
Better references make better full-scale decisions.
The prototypes supported the artist's studio process and discussions with collaborators. Having both versions made it easier to evaluate changes and gather feedback before full-scale fabrication.
High-resolution physical models can carry surface detail, proportion, and expression into the room, giving artists a dependable reference throughout the development of a larger work.
